Johnny Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard are currently locked in a very public fight in court over a choice she wrote for the Washington Post.
Depp is suing Heard for £40m after she described herself as ‘the figurehead of domestic abuse’.
At the time of writing (April 29), the trial is wrapping up in its third week, though readers would be forgiven for thinking it was longer.
The trial centered on Heard’s words in an article she wrote in 2018. Although Depp was not named in the work, the actor declared the claim defamatory, costing him his name. Work.
Ms Heard in turn sued her ex-husband for double the amount, demanding damages of around £80 million.
They were married from 2015 to 2017 and both claim the other physically abused them.
In turn, both of them denied these respective claims.

In total, the trial was scheduled to last for five weeks.
As we are at the end of the third week of the proceedings, that means we are more than half way through, with only two weeks left.
However, the judge in charge of the events, Judge Penney S Azcarate, presided at a conference from May 9 to May 12.
This participation will delay the trial by a week, so, including the week off, there are three more weeks before we can expect to hear the judge’s verdict.
If this timetable is upheld, the proceedings will be concluded on Thursday, May 9, 2022, when we can expect to hear the judge’s decision.
