KNOW as a Tinder Scammer, Simon Leviev makes millions from anyone lucky enough to slide right.
He claims to be a “diamond prince” and a billionaire heir to an Israeli tycoon’s fortune – but it turns out he’s nothing.
Who is Simon Leviev?
Israeli-born Shimon Hayut, born in Bnei Brak, just east of Tel Aviv, poses as wealthy jet pilot Simon Leviev on the Tinder dating app.
He told the victims he was the son of Israeli diamond magnate Lev Leviev – but he had no relation to the family.
He cheated and swindled women all over Europe, constantly “going on business trips” and living lavishly with the money his previous goal was.
Leviev always promised to pay back his days, but it was always fake watches, crafty checks and incomplete bank transfers.
He was eventually arrested on unrelated charges, and became a wanted man in Israel, Sweden, Great Britain, Germany, Denmark and Norway.
The use of a fake passport in July 2019 led to his extradition to Israel, and in December of that year, he was found guilty of theft, fraud and forgery.
He was sentenced to 15 months in prison but was released after only 5 months due to good behavior.
Where is Simon Leviev now?
After his release, Leviev, now 31, lived as a free man in Israel.
He regularly shares snaps of his lavish lifestyle with his 124,000 followers on Instagram.
His account is full of selfies alongside flashy cars, helicopters and private jets, as well as cigars, expensive dinners and designer gowns.
Leviev is rumored to have rejoined Tinder, but a spokesperson for the app has confirmed this to be untrue.
He is currently said to be dating an Israeli model.
Leviev has not been charged with any criminal charges outside of his home country, including his Tinder scheme.
Why is he called the Tinder Scammer?
Leviev was dubbed the Tinder Scammer for his elaborate plot while using the app.
This is also the name of a new Netflix documentary that reveals how he pretends to be a diamond tycoon specializing in flying planes to attract women then trick them into withdrawing cash.
The nearly two-hour film focuses on his three victims – Cecilie Fjellhoy, Pernilla Sjoholm and Ayleen Charlotte.
