Where to watch Ballon d’Or 2022 ceremony online tonight

Tonight’s Ballon d’Or is expected to have only its second new winner since 2007, with Lionel Messi not shortlisted for the men’s award and Cristiano Ronaldo not among the contenders.

In the last 15 years, only Luka Modric has broken the dominance of Messi and Ronaldo at the highest individual honor in world football – the Croatian midfielder won the award in 2018.

Robert Lewandowski missed out on the 2020 award when it was canceled due to Covid-19, but now it’s Modric’s Real Madrid team-mate Karim Benzema who is seen as a favorite after the club’s Champions League triumph last season.

At the Ballon d’Or Feminin, Barcelona star Alexia Putella remains the favorite to retain her prize despite missing the Euro 2020 final through injury, but England’s Beth Mead and Chelsea’s Sam Kerr could also be contenders. Here’s everything you need to know.
