Which Wii sport is the best Wii sport (and which is the worst) of the Wii sports?

Wii sports

Here’s a fun little exercise: When you think of Wii Sports, what sport do you think of first? For me it’s bowling. I got really good at aiming the ball Just Right, always getting a strike, which is far from my real-world bowling ability (which usually involves a lot of gutterballs). I only vaguely remember the others, although tennis was pretty fun until we learned how dangerous it is to bat around in a relatively small living room.

But that’s not the case for everyone! Perhaps you’ve enjoyed using the Nunchuk and Wiimote together under Matt’s guidance at Wii Boxing, or you like the quiet, focused gameplay of Wii Golf. Or maybe you’re the only person in the world who thought Wii Baseball was a blast!

just right? The real answer is which is which worst Wii sports. To paraphrase the beginning Anna Karenina, good Wii Sports are all the same; Every horrible Wii sport is horrible in its own way – which means we all have different reasons for hating whoever we do. Maybe you think Wii Tennis is an accident waiting to happen, or maybe Wii Bowling just gave you Wii Elbow and you can not forgive it

“But wait,” I hear you say – “what about Wii Sports Resort, the critically acclaimed but grossly underrated sequel?” Yes, well, sure! It’s Friday, and that means it’s time to weed it.

2009’s follow-up to Wii Sports required the use of the Wii MotionPlus controller add-on, which added a whole new range of motion to the blocky remote control and with it a ton of different sports. The only recurring sports were bowling and golf, and the other ten sports – from basketball to Frisbee golf – were all new to the series. They were pretty too… strange. I mean there was a dog fighting minigame. Who goes to a sports resort to shoot other people off planes?

But everyone has their favorite sport here, right? I’ve even divided these into more categories as some of the sports (like Air Sports and Frisbee) have different modes that I think should be highlighted:

And just to keep things balanced… What is the worst Wii Sports Resort game? Do you hate cycling because it feels like work? Do you think dog frisbee would be much better if it was cat frisbee? Or are you angry with golf because it’s the most boring use of hundreds of acres of land in the world? Vote in this poll to make absolutely clear which sport is the worst sport and maybe if enough of you vote we can destroy that sport once and for all.

Now it’s time to play the best sport of them all: Comment! Dive deep below this article to give us your best sermon on why [YOUR SPORT OF CHOICE] most fun, or your ramblings about why [YOUR SPORT OF CHOICE] is an abomination and an insult to the world of organized exercise.

And tell us: are you also getting Nintendo Switch Sports? Or have your muscles and bones become too brittle and weak in the 16 years since Wii Sports came out? Exactly the same. At least Boxing Matt will stay young forever.
