Who is Chris Packham?

Chris Packham, 60 years old, is a popular TV presenter, naturalist, nature photographer and author.

He was born in Southampton, Hampshire on May 4, 1961.

Chris developed his passion for the great outdoors after he received a degree from the University of Southampton in the Department of Zoology.

He got his first big break in 1986 when he joined the CBBC children’s nature show The Really Wild Show, which ran until 1995.

He is now best known for hosting Springwatch, which he has been doing since 2009 and has had many scientific articles published alongside his work.

Chris was awarded a CBE by the Queen in her New Year’s Honors list in December 2018.

Is Chris Packham married?

The TV presenter is not married but he currently lives in the New Forest with his longtime girlfriend Charlotte Corney, who owns the Isle of Wight Zoo.

The couple has a poodle named Scratchy.

Chris is said to have kept the fact that he was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome was kept hidden by Charlotte, revealing her diagnosis only after 5 years together.

Charlotte said: “As our relationship progressed, I noticed that he didn’t always seem to care about how I felt.

“His honesty sometimes breaks my heart.

“It can still get me pretty distraught and I could still make the mistake of equating this to how much he cares.”

Chris has no children, but has a stepdaughter from a previous relationship, Megan McCubbin, who has so far done a great job of co-hosting Winterwatch with him.

When did Chris Packham start hosting Winterwatch?

Chris started participating in the BBC’s popular wildlife series in 2009, joining the show Kate Humble and Simon King.

Chris instead Bill Oddie, who has been on the show since it was conceived in 2005.

He has also co-hosted its sister shows Springwatch and Autumn clock – with presenters Gillian Burke, Michaela Strachan and Martin Hughes-Games.

What other TV shows did he host?

In August 2018, Packham co-hosted Yellowstone Live on National Geography Channel with TV presenter Josh Elliott.

It was a four-night event showcasing the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem with feeds from live cameras.

During Mach 2019, he presented with Liz Bonnin and Steve Backshall for the four part series Living green planet.

In 2020, he narrated a three-part documentary series called Primate alongside Ella Al-Shamahi.

He also co-presented Waterhole: Africa’s Animal Oasis, which premiered in December of the same year.

Most recently, he has featured a six-part BBC Two documentary series called Animal Einsteins and an hour-long special titled Chris Packham: A Walk That Made Me, in which he walks on animals familiar street in Hampshire.
