TEAM GB women’s players are on the hunt for Olympic glory – and ignoring Eve Muirhead is looking for a better way to take the fourth place they won four years ago.
Effective bowl on stone, curly became a national obsession throughout the Winter Olympics, with the nation holding its breath most memorably in the dramatic final against Rhona Martin in 2002.
This year, competitors are hoping to compete for that gold medal in Beijing.
Who is Eve Muirhead?
Still only 31 years old, Eve Muirhead is the youngest person ever to skip to win a bronze medal in Olympic volleys at Sochi in 2014.
Born in Perth, Scotland in 1990 and the daughter of an international curler, Eve was successful in junior championships before representing Scotland from 2008 onwards.
And just a year later, she accepted the BBC Scotland Young Sports Personality of the Year award for her first achievement on the ice.

A famously gritty and fierce competitor, the Scot has won an unprecedented four gold medals at the World Junior Championships, her last coming in 2011 being seven years old.
That got her fast tracked into the Team GB system, and she dropped out at the 2010, 2014 and 2018 Winter Olympics.
They failed in a one-round round robin match in Vancouver, but in Sochi they fought for a bronze medal.
As well as her Olympic record, Muirhead was a world champion after she beat Sweden in 2013, making Eve the youngest skipper ever to win the Women’s Curling World Cup.
An accomplished bagman, Muirhead had previously tried handicaps on the golf course – but missed a still excellent 3.
She turned down two scholarships from US universities to become a professional golfer, choosing instead to focus on cue ball.
When did she become a curler?
Eve was appointed to skip in 2010 – while she was still participating in junior competitions.
After losing at the Vancouver Olympics, she returned to the junior world championships in Scotland – and beat Canada 10-3 in the final to claim her fourth title.
Does she have a boyfriend?
The TEAM GB bypasser prefers to keep her private life a secret and any boyfriend remains a mystery.
After winning a bronze medal in 2014, she is looking for love, telling fans: “I’m still single and I guess, now that the busy time is over, I’ll take some time off. and enjoy yourself.”
