Anne Hegerty has been substituted for the new series of Beat the Chasers – and he is bragging about ‘passing’ her.

The Chasers are joining forces once again to form a terrifying supergroup to handle the individual contestants, but one of their most important members won’t be joining the party.

The pregnant woman has been a key figure on the show for years, terrorizing players with her sarcastic words and cold reactions.

However, Anne, who is also nicknamed ‘Frosty Knickers’ by host Bradley Walsh, has been forced to step aside and not participate in the spin-off, which starts again tonight on ITV.

“Unfortunately, I have contracted Covid-19 so will not be filming this #BeatTheChasers series,” she tweeted.

“The amazing @Issa25 will follow in my footsteps and I’m looking forward to seeing it when it airs later this year. I feel fine, but I’m still optimistic! (In every way).”

The 38-year-old was born in Cornwall, but his family moved to Australia in 1995 and settled in Tewantin, Queensland.

Issa, whose name means Jesus in Arabic, was named after a best friend of his parents when they lived in Qatar in the 1970s.

He is an 8-time Australian Puzzle Tournament champion and also a 7-time Doubles champion.

Issa placed 23rd in the 2020 World Quiz Championship, won $200,000 on the Rich List in 2009 and has also appeared on The Einstein Factor, Who Wants To Be a Millionaire and Hell’s Kitchen Australia.

But he is best known for his role as the Pursuit in the Aussie version of the movie The Chase, where he was given the nickname ‘Superman’.

After receiving a call to step into The Governess’ “cold and cold shoes”, Issa dropped everything to fly from Brisbane to the UK at the last minute.

Issa actually has a close connection with Anne as they have been co-stars on the Australian version of The Chase for seven years.

“My co-workers are lovely and very welcoming,” says experienced Chaser. “Anne is very supportive – she says, ‘Go on, Issa, I know you can do this’.”

The new kid on the team talked about the competitive nature of the show – saying that the Chasers wanted to win and be first.

He feels “quite confident” about how he compares to the rest of the UK Chasers, but admits it’s like going from a big fish in a small link to a small fish in “an ocean of peace”.

Although he did give Anne a warning about ‘outcompeting’ her as a puzzle champ, so she should have been more careful.

He added: “Paul’s good and I’m pretty sure he’s better than me most of the time. Anne, I’ve started to move up the world rankings. I want to be world number one as much as I want to be. It might happen, it might not, it will excite me for years to come.”

Darragh Ennis, Chaser’s newest after joining in 2020, said he was having breakfast when Issa landed in the UK and he jumped straight into filming.

He explained, “I wanted to explore that Bradley relationship. Much of the success was the Chaser-Bradley relationship. He had a unique relationship with every Chaser on that set. I was very interested in developing that relationship. its own relationship.

“And I think it’s going to bring something different because even though I was born in England, I haven’t lived here in over 25 years so there’s an angle like, you know, ‘Well, he’s him. may be good at Australian things, but the contestants might have an advantage here, ‘there’s another kind of element that I think I bring in.

“And my character is different – ​​I am the Super Nerd,” he continued. “I’m a nerd – I mean, we’re all nerds but I’m a nerd in particular. I love my video games.
