Dancing on Ice: Paul Gascoigne cheers on son Regan

Regan Gascoigne was cheered on by his father Paul Gascoigne during this series of Dancing on Ice.

The 26-year-old dancer is one of the favorites to lift the trophy tonight as he takes on former Strictly Come Dancing pro Brendan Cole and Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt.

Regan, who works with pro skater Karina Manta, has even wiped away tears from famous dad Gazza with his beautiful routines.

Proud dad Paul was seen watching his son in the studio audience alongside Regan’s sister Bianca Gascoigne, who revealed her father broke down watching him skate.

However, Gazza will not be in the studio tonight to watch the Dancing on Ice finale because his son has chosen two other guests.

Paul has been in the audience several times throughout the series, but Regan has decided to bring sister Bianca and mother Sheryl instead.

Sheryl and Paul’s high-profile relationship began after they met in 1990, and they married six years later, shortly after Regan was born in 1996.

The footballer adopted Sheryl’s two children from her first marriage to Colin Kyle named Mason and Bianca, who then took Gazza’s last name.

Sheryl had a tumultuous marriage to Paul that ended in divorce in August 1998 after just two years.

Regan’s father Paul has thanked his ex for keeping her son on the right track throughout his childhood.

“He has a strong mother, she’s strong because obviously she’s been with me,” Paul told The Mirror in January.

And when it comes to Regan following in his father’s messy footsteps, Paul has no worries, saying, “He’s got a good head on his shoulders. He won’t be like me.”

Also in the studio will be Bianca, who claimed she is the “proudest sister in the universe” after watching Regan skate.

The former Love Island star admitted it can be “bittersweet” to see Regan perform so well on the ice due to the horrific injuries some of the celebs have suffered.

“Watch after rain on the ice was also difficult because there were some bad injuries on the show like cuts, fractures and sprains,” said Bianca Closer Magazine.

“I’m always on the edge of my seat because I know he could really hurt himself – it feels slightly bittersweet.

Gazza knew from a young age that his son would not be following in his footsteps after he turned his back on football boots and opted to buy ballet shoes instead.

Paul said: “Yes, he was going to do his dance lessons in London and I did a little snooping and choked a bit watching him dance to see how good he was and how much he was enjoying it.

“It touched me emotionally to see him enjoying himself. And after seeing the Dancing On Ice training videos he showed me, he’s good, he can win!”

Regan certainly inherited his father’s fancy footwork when he enrolled at the Hammond Ballet School and then studied musical theater at the Tring Park School for Performing Arts.

While you might imagine Paul was a little disappointed that his son didn’t take up football, it was quite the opposite.

“I guess Dad didn’t care that I didn’t follow in his footsteps,” Regan told The Mirror earlier this year.

“He just wanted me to be happy. He wouldn’t force me to do anything I didn’t want to do.”
