Meghan and Harry arrive at Thanksgiving service

All eyes were on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry as they joined the rest of the royal family for a thanksgiving service as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

It’s the first time they’ve both taken part in an official engagement since they left senior positions and relocated to the United States last year.

It’s also the first time Meghan and Kate have been seen together in public since the Duchess of Sussex accused her sister-in-law of making her cry during her bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Meghan and Harry were seen chatting to some family members when they arrived at St Paul’s Cathedral and shared a joke with Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie and their husbands.

However, many royal fans wondered why the Sussexes sat so far from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, especially as they sat right behind them on their most recent royal engagement in 2020.

While many believed this was due to the well-documented rift between the brothers, the seating plan is actually due solely to royal protocol.

As is tradition, the royals arrived in seniority order, meaning Prince Charles was the last to enter the cathedral in the Queen’s absence. The monarch was due to attend but pulled out last night after yesterday’s event caused her pain.

The least elderly royals, including Mike and Zara Tindall, arrived first, followed by the Earl and Countess of Wessex and their two children. Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie and their husbands were next, and then it was time for Harry and Meghan.

Huge cheers were heard as the couple climbed out of the car and, holding hands, entered the historic building.

They spent a few minutes speaking with the senior minister before entering the place of worship and proceeding to greet the long line of ministers attending today’s Thanksgiving service. Harry stopped to chat with the Archbishop of York for a few moments before the couple were shown to their seats.

They were sitting in the second row with Harry’s cousins, Beatrice and Eugenie.

However, as senior members of the royal family, Kate and her husband Prince William sat further forward – taking a front row seat with Charles and Camilla.

Kate wears a stunning Emilia Wickstead dress and a Philip Treacy hat, while Meghan wears a sleek white coat dress with a matching hat.

The Duchess of Cornwall wore an ivory and gold embroidered coat dress by Fiona Clare and a hat by Philip Treacy.
