Why PS5 owners should IGNORE a huge upgrade – it could cost you

PS5 can beat in terms of performance, but you might want to put off upgrading your TV yet.
Sony plans to boost console output to 8K in a future update, but there’s no need to buy a new TV right away.
That’s because the vast majority of PS5 games currently only support 4K.
And even with upsampling capabilities on the latest 8K TVs, it’s still not worth the extra cost.
8K products are still quite expensive at the moment.
And there’s not much else to really enjoy on them either.

So it’s probably best to wait for prices to fall.
Action-adventure puzzler Touryst was the first game to launch 8K 60fps last year, not that every console can show it off for now.
Developers say they only need to push out a small patch to turn it on once Sony and others activate 8K.
Sony’s own FAQ states that “PS5 is compatible with 8K displays at launch and will be able to output resolutions up to 8K after a future system software update with supported software when content becomes available.”
There’s no indication of when the tech giant plans to flip the switch to 8K.
But it could be in time for the long-rumored PS5 Pro.
The unconfirmed console could give players a big graphics boost if it exists.
And it would also give Sony a better chance to compete with newer gaming PCs.
