IF YOU have been to a theme park before, you will have seen that some roller coasters have special lines for people who want to sit in the front.
Often people think that the front seat on a roller coaster is the fastest, but that’s not really the case.
Martin Cowdrey, Electrical Engineer at Chessington world of adventuresrevealed that if you want to be the fastest, you should go to the other end of the roller coaster.
He told Sun Online Travel: “If you’re going beyond a ride, the quickest place to sit is at the back of the coaster, not the front.
“In the back you’re waiting for the drop while still looking up, so when the ride is over you’re thrown around so that’s where it feels fastest.
“You also have to queue longer to get to the front as that’s always the most popular spot because people like to be able to see where they’re going.”
“So if you want to drive the fastest and save a little time, you should go to the back.”
It’s not just where you sit that determines how fast you go.
Brian Morrow, corporate vice president of theme park experiences at SeaWorld, revealed that the time of day also has an impact on a roller coaster’s speed.
He said dental floss: “A roller coaster running in the morning might run slower in cooler temperatures.
“The wheels aren’t that warm anymore, the bearings are heating up. That could be different up to 2 p.m. with a bonded wheel chassis.”
So if you want to go as fast as possible, you should wait until later in the day and sit in the back of a roller coaster.
