Have you arrived safely? Did you give off the right vibes? Did you make her laugh, but not too much? All the questions are floating around in your head and you have no answers.
One person gained weight mom net However, recently to ask about the most uncomfortable interview experience people have had when they were the ones asking the questions.
She wrote: “A friend was just telling me about the job interviews she had recently. One candidate was apparently terrible. whoops She then went on to ask if others had had similarly horrifying interviews.
One particularly salient response came from someone who had interviewed a man who was particularly passionate about his children.
The interviewer wrote: “As part of a series of competency-based questions, I asked a candidate to tell me something they had done that they were particularly proud of. He started telling me about his twins. He then burst into tears as he spoke about it so emotionally.
“We were a very boring company of statistical analysts and mathematical modelers – colleagues could hardly look each other in the eye, let alone express real feelings.
“I just waited for him to finish bubbling and then asked him the next question.”
Other interviewers also shared their hilarious stories, which made us all feel a little better about our past interviewing mistakes.
Another shared: “Online interview. The candidate pointed the camera directly at her chest. I said the camera was too low and we couldn’t see her face.
“At the end of the interview, she moves the camera up so we see her full face for the first and last time as she says goodbye.”
Oops, that sounds far from ideal, but it’s not quite as bad as the interviewee being caught lying.
Another user added: “Not me but a former boss. Interview for a big blue chip. My boss had just returned to the UK after 10 years in China.
“One resume said they were fluent in Mandarin, so at the interview the boss greeted them in Mandarin and asked how the trip was. The interviewee looked completely expressionless. The boss tried again, slowly. Still expressionless.
“They went through the whole interview but it was excruciating because they screwed up the first 10 seconds.”
