Aston Villa vs Liverpool: pictures

Aston Villa will be hoping for a quick return to winning ways when they host Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday as they battle for a first-half spot after losing 2-1 to Liverpool in midweek.

But the Eagles also want to get into the top 10 themselves and have been in good form lately to give themselves the best chance of doing so, winning two of their last three games.

Villa sit a point and a spot below Palace in 12th place and a win for either side could see them move into the top half on other results, while the two sides also have a game in hand against other teams .

When does Aston Villa play Crystal Palace?

Aston Villa vs Crystal Palace kicks off at 2pm on Sunday 15 May at Villa Park.

The last meeting between these two sides came in November in the second leg of the league, when the Villains defeated their hosts 2-1 at Selhurst Park.

Matt Targett had given Villa a 1-0 lead after just 15 minutes of play and it stayed that way until John McGinn’s strike in the 86th minute doubled the lead, but despite Marc Guehi halving the deficit in the 90th minute, held the score all three fixed points.

As for Patrick Vieira, his side will be more refreshed than their hosts after not playing midweek and he could choose to stay with the same side that defeated Watford last weekend as the Eagles have three wins in strive to follow.

However, he also has four injury concerns ahead of this clash but hopes to welcome back Marc Guehi (ankle) and Vicente Guaita (calf), both of whom face late fitness tests. James McArthur (calf) is expected to be out alongside Nathan Ferguson (hamstring).
