Will Smith is set to sit down with David Letterman for a candid chat just weeks after the actor sensationally slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars.
The singer/actor, 53, insulted a GI Jane joke the comedian made about his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith and decided to storm the stage and assault him.
Unfortunately for fans looking for answers, Will’s conversation with the veteran presenter, 75, was filmed before the event.
Still, it’s set to be an open and honest discussion about the new season of My Next Guest That Needs No Introduction.
Smith’s appearance will air on May 20, with other celebrities already lining up to appear in the six-part series including Cardi B, Kevin Durant, Billie Eilish, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Ryan Reynolds .
The Oscars crash was world news after the events of late March.
It all started when comedian Chris joked about Jada’s short haircut, saying, “Jada, can’t wait for GI Jane 2.”
Will – who went on to win Best Actor the following night – seemed to just laugh at the comment at first, but then walked onto the stage and slapped the host, before returning to his seat. and shouted: “Get off my wife’s name. f****** mouth.”
The comedian’s joke is related to the 1997 film GI Jane – a film starring Demi Moore that also has a similar image to Jada’s film.
Jada has previously spoken out about her decision to shave her head after suffering from hair loss.
The stunning scenes got Smith banned from the Oscars for the next 10 years.
He accepted the decision after an investigation into his actions and found the Council commented: “The Board has decided, for a period of 10 years from 8 April 2022, Mr. Smith will not be allowed to be on duty. continue to attend any Academy events or programs, or virtually, including but not limited to the Academy Awards.”
While Rock has so far shied away from talking about the slap, members of his family continue to condemn the actor’s actions.
After his brother suggested the iRobot star join a boxing match, Rock’s mother also knocked him down.
She said: “When Will slapped Chris, he slapped all of us, but he actually slapped me.
“When you hurt my child, you hurt me.”
