The previous owner, a clip posted by Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson in November 2021, had 43 million views in 24 hours.

During Sunday night’s ceremony, Smith, 53, took the stage and slapped Rock after the comedian made a joke about his wife’s hair loss. Jada Pinkett-Smith.

The American actress has been vocal about her struggles with alopecia.

The shocking moment quickly went viral online, sparking thousands of jokes and memes on social media.

A 90 second clip The slap uploaded to YouTube by The Guardian is already breaking records.

The video has been at the top of YouTube trending lists for over 24 hours and has amassed hundreds of thousands of comments.

It broke American YouTuber MrBeast’s record for garnering the most views for a non-music or trailer video in a 24-hour period.

The video in question was the much-anticipated recreation of Netflix’s Squid Game, which racked up 42.6 million views a day after it hit the site.

After Will Smith broke that record with 50 million views in one day, it stood at 69 million views as of Tuesday morning.

MrBeast has yet to respond to being defeated just four months after receiving the award.

The nightly drama on Sunday is far from over.

Despite the confrontation, the King Richard nominee took home the win of the night for Best Actor.

However, insiders have hinted that the Oscars’ angry bosses are considering withdrawing the award for Smith’s on-stage attack.

After the ceremony was over, the Academy tweeted, “The Academy does not condone violence of any kind.”

An official spokesman said on Monday: “The Academy condemns Mr Smith’s actions at last night’s show.

“We have officially begun a formal review of the incident and will review further actions and consequences consistent with our bylaws, standards of conduct and California law.”

Whoopi Golberg, the academy’s acting governor, poured cold water on the rumours.

Reflecting on the attack on her talk show The View on Monday, she said: “I think there was probably a lot of stuff set up.

“I think he overreacted … I think he had one of those moments where it was [God damn] it, just stop.”

Whoopi’s co-host Sunny Hostin said she was “surprised [Will] was not escorted,” and asked if his Oscar would be taken away.

Whoopi replied, “We’re not going to take that Oscar away from him.

“I’m sure there will be consequences, but I don’t think they will, especially because Chris said, ‘Listen, I’m not bringing any charges.'”

Smith issued a public apology to Rock on Monday night, calling his own behavior at the Academy Awards “unacceptable and inexcusable.”

“Violence in all its forms is poisonous and destructive,” he said.

“Jokes at my expense are part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s health was too much for me and I reacted emotionally.”
