Will Smith struggles to apologize to Oscar bosses as slap review begins

Will Smith has caused an internet uproar after he took to the stage at the Oscars and slapped Chris Rock in the face for making a joke about his wife

Will Smith is reportedly working to apologize to Academy bosses after he punched Chris Rock on stage during the event.
The Hitch actor, 53, was furious after the comedian, 57, made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head. She has alopecia.
After punching Chris, he even yelled from his seat, “Keep my wife’s name out of your damn mouth”.
The academy recently announced that it has launched a formal review of the incident after condemning his actions.
A source has also claimed that Will has until April 18 when a decision is made on whether Will will be allowed to keep his Oscar.
“Things are at stake. He will write an official letter to apologize, effectively asking for forgiveness,” the insider said The sun.

“He is also expected to be on the phone with the show’s bosses over the next 24 hours. However, April 18 is D-Day – he will find out if he still has an Oscar and possibly a career.”
Mirror has reached out to Will’s rep for comment.
Following Sunday night’s incident, the Academy released a statement regarding the shocking moment.
The statement read: “The Academy condemns the actions of Mr. Smith at last night’s show.
“We have officially begun a formal review of the incident and will review further actions and consequences consistent with our bylaws, standards of conduct and California law.”
The statement released by AMPAS follows a late night tweet following the altercation, in which they wrote, “The Academy does not condone violence of any kind.”
In his speech at the review, Academy Governor Whoopi Goldberg claimed that he would not be stripped of his first-ever Oscar.

Whoopi told The View on Monday: “I think there was probably a lot of stuff built up.
“I think he overreacted … I think he had one of those moments where it was [God damn] it, just stop.
“I understand not everyone behaves the way we would like under pressure. And he snapped…”
She added: “Sometimes you get to a point where you misbehave. I myself have misbehaved on occasion.”
View co-host Sunny Hostin said she was “surprised he wasn’t escorted” and asked if he would be stripped of the award.
Whoopi replied, “We’re not going to take that Oscar away from him.
“I’m sure there will be consequences, but I don’t think they will, especially because Chris said, ‘Listen, I’m not filing any charges.'”
