The 66-year-old actor, a four-time Academy Award nominee, hosted NBC’s sketch comedy series for the first time on Saturday (January 29).

In his opening monologue, Willem look back at his beginnings in experimental theater.

“That background really taught me how to get into a role.” Willem speak. “Some people tell me that my acting is too good, but to me, one person’s over-the-top acting is another person’s acting.”

Willem then goes on to tease his “expressive face” which he says he “can’t control.”
