Winter is coming to Pokémon Go as Ice-types are running wild this week

The answer is ice guys everywhere, but there are also a number of events to keep you entertained.

Here’s everything that’s happening in Pokémon Go from December 12-18, 2022.

Spheal steals the spotlight in Pokémon Go

This week’s spotlight hour takes place on Tuesday, December 13, 2022out 6 p.m local time.

During December’s Community Day, Walrein can learn Icicle Spear, so it’s nice to catch a bunch of Spheal in preparation.

Even after being nerfed a few months ago, Walrein is still a great PvP option, and Icicle Spear will only improve on that.

During the one-hour window, you’ll earn double experience points (XP) for catching Pokémon.

Terrakion handles the raids in Pokémon Go

This week’s Raid Hour is on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, out 6 p.m local time

Following the Swords of Justice theme, Terrakion will be taking over all gyms for five-star raids this week.

It will know Sacred Sword by default, and Shiny Hunters will be pleased to know you have a chance at catching the other-colored form.

This is probably the best chance you’ll get for the Shiny, so start raiding.

The Winter Holidays event begins in Pokémon Go

The Pokémon Go Winter Holiday Event begins on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 10 a.m. local time.

Niantic has yet to announce what will be included in the event, but this isn’t our first rodeo.

After past events, there will likely be more spawns for Ice-type mons and Pokémon with special costumes to collect.

GO Battle League: Ultra League and Ultra Premier Classic

Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 1 p.m. PDT

Week 3 of the current GO Battle League season begins, changing all available disciplines: Great League and Fighting Cup giving way to Ultra League and Ultra Premier Classic.

The Ultra League is an open format with a cap of 2,500 Competitive Points (CP) for participating Pokémon. The Ultra-Premier Classic maintains this CP limit, but further restricts the format by banning Legendary and Mythical Pokémon and Ultra Beasts. Also, creatures upgraded with XL candies may not be used.
