A woman, 80, has died in hospital four days after being hit by a car in Co Cavan.
ardaí and emergency services visited the scene of the incident in the Bailieboro area of county on Tuesday evening, November 8th.
The woman was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, for treatment. However, Gardaí have confirmed that the victim died from her injuries yesterday.
“Gardaí in Bailieboro are renewing their appeal in relation to a fatal road traffic accident involving a car and a pedestrian that occurred on Tuesday evening, November 8th, on the R165 in Bailieboro, Co. Cavan,” said a Garda spokesman.
“The pedestrian, a woman in her 80s, was hit by the car just after 7pm.
“The woman was later taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where she remained in critical condition for several days. She died of her injuries on Saturday November 12.”
Gardaí asks all witnesses to the collision to come forward.
All road users with camera footage, including dash cam footage, who were driving on the R165 in Bailieboro between 6.45pm and 7.15pm on Tuesday evening 8th November are asked to provide such footage to Gardaí.
