Woman arrested after man’s body was discovered in Navan, Co. Meath

Separate investigations are underway after the bodies of two men were discovered in different parts of Co Meath yesterday.

ardaí in Navan are investigating the circumstances of the death of a man in his 40s, whose body was discovered on Saturday December 10th at a residential building in Academy Street, Navan.

Gardaí said a woman, 30, was arrested as part of the investigation.

The man’s body remains at the crime scene, which has been preserved for forensic and technical investigations by the Garda Technical Bureau. The office of the state pathologist and the local coroner have also been notified.

“A woman in her 30s has been arrested and is currently being held at Kells Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984,” a Garda spokesman said.

“The investigations in Gardaí are asking witnesses to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Navan Garda Station incident room on 046-9036100 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.”

Gardaí said the investigation was ongoing.

It comes as gardaí in Ashbourne are investigating the discovery of a man’s body in “unexplained circumstances” yesterday afternoon.

The man was wrapped in a rug and found in farmland in the Killbride area, around 10km from Ashbourne.

Sources emphasized that the investigation is at an “early stage” but that there are “some indications” that the man’s death is suspicious.

Gardaí said in a statement: “Gardaí in Ashbourne is investigating the discovery of a body in suspicious circumstances this afternoon, Saturday 10 December 2022.

“The scene is currently being preserved and a technical investigation is being conducted by the Garda Technical Bureau.

“The Office of the State Pathologist has been notified. The results of the autopsy will determine the course of the investigation.
