Woman beat bouncer in club in split second

A WOMAN who slapped a nightclub bouncer in the face told investigating Gardaí: “Real crimes happen out there.”

Onna Denton, 31, was on her first night after giving birth when she slapped the bouncer in a “split-second reaction,” a court heard.

She received the benefits of the Probation Act after paying the victim €700 in compensation.

Denton, of Bridge Street, Cootehill, Co. Cavan, admitted assault, threats, abusive and abusive behavior and Garda obstruction.

Garda Sergeant Zita Woods told the court a passing Garda saw Denton punch a security guard in the face outside George, South Great George’s Street at 00:58 on March 25.

The Garda got out of the patrol car and asked what happened.

“I defended myself like he was a man,” Denton told Garda.

“What are you going to do? There’s real crime out there.”

She became abusive towards the Gardaí and resisted arrest.

Denton had no criminal record and filed a letter of apology in court.

She wouldn’t normally drink and it was her first night since giving birth to her son, her attorney said.

The bouncer had raised his hand to stop them entering and the attack happened in a split second.

She accepted it was a “terrible reaction”.

Judge Paula Murphy said she will not drop the charges but will apply the probation law. Woman beat bouncer in club in split second
