Woman falls headfirst into human excrement while trying to rescue phone from toilet

Fire Chief Tim Manly said the woman had to be washed down by firefighters after the horrific fall, thankfully not suffering any physical injuries

A woman had to be rescued and flushed down by firefighters after falling headfirst into a toilet trying to save her phone.

The woman had been using her phone in the vault toilet at Mount Walker in Quilcene, Washington, United States, when she found it on Tuesday afternoon, April 19.

After disassembling the toilet seat, the woman tried to use the dog to fish out the device, reports the Kitsap Sun.

But when that didn’t work, the determined hiker tied herself up with the lines and tried to lower herself – only to end up falling headfirst into the vault.

Brinnon Fire Chief Tim Manly said: “They didn’t work very well and she went in.”

The woman, who had traveled alone to Mount Walker, attempted to escape from the vault but was unable to get back out.

Miraculously, after being reunited with her phone in the excrement, the cellphone was still working and she was able to get a signal to call 911.

“I imagine she was probably very lucky,” Manly said.

“I have no experience of this type of rescue except now, but I know that’s not a good place.”

The fire brigade got the woman out with a belt.

The woman was washed down and “was strongly encouraged to see a doctor after being exposed to human waste, but she just wanted to leave,” the department said.

“That was pretty unique,” Manly said of the incident.

“I’ve been doing this for 40 years and it was a first.”
