Leeds: Police and CSI at the Stanningley crime scene

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after police found the body of a woman in a house.

West Yorkshire Police discovered the woman’s remains after responding to a safety report on Friday.

Investigators have arrested a man and woman, both 35, on suspicion of murder.

A crime scene still exists where forensic scientists were seen entering the Leeds home.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Police have opened a murder investigation after the body of a woman was found at an address in Leeds.

“The woman’s body was discovered in a property at Stanhall Mews in Stanningley after police received a safety report at 2.49pm yesterday (Friday).

“A man and woman, both 35, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody.

“A scene is still playing at the address as the investigation into the woman’s death continues.

“These are being run by the Homicide and Principal Investigation Team. Local officials are conducting additional patrols in the area to reassure communities.

“Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is asked to contact the Homicide and Major Investigations team.”

A neighbor tells Leeds lives The unnamed victim “kept to himself”.

He added: “Obviously everyone is very shocked at what happened to this poor woman.

“We don’t know much about what happened yet and it’s usually such a quiet little street.

“I’ve only spoken to her about garbage collection once or twice and I don’t think anyone here even knew her, to be honest, even her name.

“I know it’s a cliche, but she kept it to herself.”
