Tributes flowed for an innocent ‘unique’ mother of five who police believe was accidentally shot dead in Dublin.

Sandra Boyd, in her 30s, was shot dead at around 8.40pm on Saturday night at a house in Finglas, Dublin 11.

Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene and Ms Boyd was taken to Mater Hospital for treatment but died in hospital a short time later.

At this point, the Gardai believe a firearm was fired at the property, resulting in Ms Boyd being accidentally shot. the Irish Independent reports.

The scene is preserved and a technical check is carried out by the Garda Technical Bureau, The Irish Mirror reports.

The death of the young mother has left the Finglas community shocked and many have taken to Facebook to express their condolences.

One person wrote: “Absolutely shocking news tonight what kind of world are we living in? Absolutely heartbreaking. Rest in peace Sandra. You were truly a unique look at your children and family.”

Another said: “Oh my god Sandra Boyd can’t believe you’re not here. God, you will not only be missed greatly by your boys and your little girl, but by everyone who knows you.”

A third wrote: “I’m just at a loss for words. Absolutely heartbroken for you and your family, Sandra Boyd. You were a diamond. Look after your babies and your family during this devastating time.

Her remains were taken to the city morgue and an autopsy was scheduled to be performed this afternoon by state pathologist Dr. Sally Ann Collis to be performed.

Officials are asking anyone with information to come forward



No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting and the investigation is ongoing.

Gardai is now appealing to anyone with dashcam footage of the surrounding streets to get in touch.

A Gardaí spokesman said: “Gardaí in Finglas is continuing to investigate a fatal shooting incident that occurred on the evening of 19 March 2022 at a residential building at Collins Place, Finglas West, Dublin 11.

“Gardaí and rescue services were on site around 8:40 p.m. A woman in her 30s was seriously injured in the incident.

“She was taken to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.”

The statement continued: “Gardaí is appealing to anyone with information regarding this deadly shooting to contact the Gardaí investigation at Finglas Garda Station.

“A Garda Síochána is also attractive to anyone driving between 8pm and 9pm in the area of ​​Collins Park, Ballygall Road West or adjacent/surrounding roads, particularly drivers of vehicles or other road users who may have video footage (Dashcam, GoPro or other…) to contact the Gardaí investigation.
