WORDLE has taken social media by storm, so what better time to socialize with friends by solving daily quizzes?
Go viral on Twitter is a charade that gives you six attempts to guess the correct word of the day.
The word is always five letters, and it’s a puzzle that’s the same for everyone, so sharing your results should spark some competition.
Ideally, you want to figure out the answer in as few tries as possible, and unless you’re super lucky, you’re not going to try the first time.
Fun, there are a few tips and tricks you can use to find the Wordle of the day quickly.
If you are not familiar with the rules, you can read our explanation on how Wordle works to brush up.
Don’t be misled by the color code
We went through color coding in our explanation, but again, the green letters are in the correct spaces, the yellow letters are in the word but not in the correct places, and the gray is completely blank. not in that word at all.
The important tip here is that a letter marked in green or yellow does not mean it is unique in the word.
If you look at the screenshot above, the letter A is highlighted in yellow on my second guess, but appears in the solution twice.
Wordle has a color blind mode
Wordle’s color coding is the key to solving puzzles, but yellow and green are not friendly for the colorblind.
But don’t fret! There is a color blind mode hidden in the settings menu, which turns them orange and blue.
Just click on the settings icon and turn on the color blind mode. There is also a dark theme and hard mode.
Wordle may not include some words
Given enough time, I’m sure we could all conjure up some disastrous 5-letter Wordle conjecture.
While Wordle doesn’t accept gobbledegook, it does allow you to enter obscene words – anything is fine as long as it’s a legal word.
However, it is likely that the game will include a filter when it comes to the actual solution.
Your first guess should be a word that marks a few vowels, because the English language doesn’t fit them.
So choose something with at least two of the letters A, E, I, O, and U.
The words ‘quiet’ and ‘exotic’ are a good place to start.
The most commonly used letters in English – excluding vowels – are T, N, S, R, L and C.
That’s based on how often they appear in the Concise Oxford English Dictionary (via Reader’s Notice).
Ideally, you should incorporate them into your first guess if possible, but if not, your second guess should try to collect as many as possible.
Words like ‘explode’, ‘crawl’ and ‘heal’ mark a range of words as well as tick one or two vowels.
Remember that the default Wordle difficulty setting allows you to skip hints that have already been revealed, while the difficulty mode forces you to use them on subsequent guesses.
Without playing on hard mode, you can skip the correct letters (if any) from your first guess and target the list of consonants.
You hope to have it in your pocket by your third guess with this strategy.
