World of Warcraft Details Changes in Season 4 of Shadowlands when Cross-Faction PTR begins

World of Warcraft outlines what to expect shadowlands Season 4 later this year, while the 9.2.5 PTR begins cross-faction testing for features that will support it.

Blizzard’s announcement that Alliance and Horde players can both play side-by-side in some cases is now moving into testing. In new PTR notes, players can now directly invite members of the opposing faction to a party if you have a BattleTag or RealID friendship, or if you both belong to a cross-faction WoW community. Communities now have the ability to change their settings to be cross-faction, but guilds remain single faction organizations. Premade Groups are also open to both factions in the Group Finder for Mythic Dungeons, Raids, or Rated Arena/RBG. However, a group leader can only limit the listing to the same faction. Random matchmade activities like heroic dungeons or skirmishes stay with the same faction. And some instances will also remain single faction:

  • Trial of the Champion
  • Process of the Crusader
  • Vaults of Archavon
  • Icecrown Citadel
  • Baradin Fortress
  • Siege of Boralus
  • Battle of Dazar’alor
  • Darkrock Citadel

When it comes to shadowlands, season 3 is underway but season 4 is coming. There will be a new tier of PVP gear and other seasonal rewards like mounts or titles. The highest ranking title is called Eternal Gladiator. There will be no Hall of Fame in Season 4 not to make this a competitive event. They also plan to shake things up a bit in Mythic+ and raids. The Mythic+ dungeon pool will contain eight dungeons from the last four expansions.

The community can help decide by voting on which dungeons to choose draenor will rotate in Season 4. When it comes to raids, they’re considering an ancestral-themed affix system that will add mechanical twists to some of the raids to make all three relevant in Season 4 and reward players who continue to take them on. These are Castle Nathria, Sanctum of Domination, and Sepulcher of the First Ones.
