World of Warcraft Dragonflight expansion officially unveiled, taking players to the Dragon Isles

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight was officially unveiled today, bringing players to the Dragon Isles in Blizzard’s ninth expansion for the popular MMORPG. Alongside the new area there will be a new race: the Dractyrs.

The new expansion, whose name was pretty much confirmed a few weeks ago thanks to datamining, takes players to the Dragon Isles, complete with four new leveling zones for players to explore. Also coming is a new starter zone that accompanies the new playable race: the Dractyrs. The new expansion also sees an increase in the level cap to 70.

The Dractyr itself is also a new class since World of Warcraft gets its first true class/race hybrid. The Dractyr Evoker is a unique class developed around the Dractyr’s unique dragon traits. Players can choose to be a healer or ranged damage dealer with the Evoker, and design their own humanoid and draconic forms when creating their Dractyr. The race is also available as both Alliance and Horde characters, although cross-play is coming soon, which might not matter as much in the future.

Come with me too dragonflight is a new flying mechanic that borrows from the expansion’s name. This new Dragon Riding ability allows players to soar through the Dragon Isles on their own customizable dragon. Players can learn new maneuvers and improve their flying skills with a brand new Dragonriding skill tree.

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight will also see a new talent system as the old one gets a complete overhaul. Blizzard states that players will be able to make “more creative and tasteful talent choices” to better build their character.

dragonflight will also bring new updates to the profession system, like the addition of player-controlled work orders and a new specialization system. Some other included quality of life features will also be a newly updated HUD and UI, bringing it into a more modern age.
