Danny Bloor says his Eastbourne Borough side still have work to do ahead of the new Southern season of the Vanarama National League.
They defeated SCFL team Bexhill 7-1 in their last friendly.
District boss Bloor praised his side’s movement in the first half but added: “The result is irrelevant.
“I’d say we’re about 60% there so there’s still a lot to do over the next two weeks.
“Set pieces, working on patterns and so on.
“But we’re certainly working in a direction that we’re all happy with.”
Greg Luer (2), Leone Gravata (2), new signing Shiloh Remy, Jaden Perez and an own goal made the balance.
Miquel Scarlett, a former Gillingham and Colchester youngster, played the second half.
Scarlett, who has four caps for Anguilla in CONCACAF World Cup qualifying, can play at full-back or in midfield.
Former Albion midfielder Charlie Harris scored a hat-trick in the first half as Whitehawk won 7-1 at Hassocks.
The hosts, who performed well against Burgess Hill midweek, were beaten well here.
Will Miles, Charlie Lambert, Javaun Splatt and a trialist completed the Hawks’ record while Sam Smith led the Hassocks response.
The hosts lost Pat Harding with three broken ribs.
He spent Saturday night in the hospital.
