Xavi targets fragile caresses at Arsenal after heroic Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez had a slight swipe at Arsenal after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored his new club’s sixth goal on Sunday.

Aubameyang, who join from Arsenal for free on 2 February, scoring Barca’s third goal in a comfortable four-goal win over Osasuna at Camp Nou in La Liga.

The Gabonese striker has now scored six goals in six appearances for his new club as he has enjoyed an impressive start to his Spanish football life.

Aubameyang’s arrival follows Dani Alves, and comes after Barca’s completion signed with Ferran Torres are from City of Manchester and then secured the loan signing of La Masia graduate Adama Traore from Wolf.

Arsenal I really want to create the conditions for this striker to leave permanently and free of charge when due significant savings they will make about Aubameyang’s salary.

While the Gunners are in good form, it looks like the move – at least in the short term – benefits all parties.

Barca continued to revive their form with a comfortable victory over Osasuna, where rookie Torres scored a brace before Aubameyang also joined the action.

Xavi’s side are now reviving in both the league and the Europa League as they look to book next season Champions League with the four highest endings.

Xavi told reporters after Sunday night’s game: “Aubameyang is a gift that fell from the sky.

“It’s not only [the goals], that’s how he trains and his professionalism. He is an example. [all the players] We.”

Aubameyang has rediscovered his scoring ability after two months out of the first team following a boycott at Arsenal.

Xavi had previously explained about the striker, after he scored twice in the team’s recent match 4-1 win over Valencia : “He has scored goals all his career.

“He does well when he has space.

“He’s mature, smart, humble and positive. I’m happy for him.

“Two goals will give him confidence.”

After the win at the Mestalla, Barca midfielder Sergio Busquets added about the striker: “Since Aubameyang arrived, he has been working hard. We know he hasn’t played many minutes this season.

“He’s a great player and having him on the team, coming here for free, is really positive for us.”

Barca are currently on a 10-match unbeaten streak in all competitions, having been knocked out of the Spanish Super Cup and Copa del Rey in January.

Xavi’s side have won all of their last four La Liga games and they are 12 games unbeaten in the competition, extending after a loss to Real Betis on December 4.

Barca are also in the Europa League round of 16, with the first leg against Galatasaray ending goalless at Camp Nou last week.
