Finally it happened. We’ve reached a point where you’d typically find a new Xbox Series X|S console in stock. The Xbox Series S is pretty much always available at most retailers, and the Series X has been pretty easy to find for the past few weeks as well. The stock of it still comes and goes, but you can find it often somewhere. It’s time.

Below are links to all the places where you can currently buy a brand new Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S. You might even find an offer for one. Let us begin.

Xbox Series S Fortnite & Rocket League Bundle

Amazon has both the standard Xbox Series S and the Fortnite & Rocket League bundle, which gives you some in-game goodies for those games. In fact, most of the retailers listed below stock these consoles, so check another if you prefer them to Amazon.

Where to buy Xbox Series accessories

You can count on it: With a new generation of consoles comes a new line of accessories. Microsoft and third parties have unveiled an improved controller, a new wireless headset, and a few other items. In line with Microsoft’s efforts to ease the transition between console generations, all (or almost all) Xbox One peripherals are also fully compatible with the X and S Series.

It’s no surprise that Microsoft’s new generation consoles are hard to find. As many people upgrade to new TVs, they want a console that can take full advantage of the latest features. The Xbox Series X is geared towards 4K TVs, while the Series S is optimized for 1440p output. But both consoles bring great new features like Smart Delivery (seamless upgrade to next-gen games), 120fps gameplay, and snappy loading speeds.

First you need the dealer links for the new hardware. But if you click on them at any point, chances are tiny that you’ll find them in stock. How do you know when they are in stock?

Follow Xbox Series X|S Trackers on Twitter

While some retailers will announce in advance when they have new Xbox stock, others just like to surprise people. Either way, the best way to know when Xbox Series X and Series S will be in stock is to follow a Twitter account that tracks things like this. If you really want a new console, you can also turn on notifications when they tweet. Here are some accounts to follow to know when new stock becomes available:

Tips for getting an Xbox Series X

Prepare your accounts with all retailers

Make sure you’re logged into all major retailer sites on any device you’re trying to use to buy a next-gen console. It’s also a good idea to keep your credit card on hand so you don’t have to fiddle with entering your details while the clock ticks down while you’re trying to check out.

Speaking of retailers, each of the big retailers have their own quirks for dealing with Xbox Series X and S when they come back in stock. Here’s what to expect from each.

Amazon is all about surprise. The online retailer never announces when new Xbox stock will arrive and be available. When new consoles come out, Amazon simply flips their “Sold Out” button to “Add to Cart,” and anyone who happens to see it in time can try to add it to their cart. Your best bet is to follow IGN Deals or any other Twitter account dedicated to stuff like this.

best buy

Best Buy also tends to get new stock out of the blue. If so, here’s how it works: You press the button to add the Xbox Series X or S to your cart. If you’re lucky, you’ll be taken straight to the checkout. If you’re not so lucky, the Add to Cart button will turn gray and then yellow again after a few minutes, and you’ll have to tap the button again. Then the game starts all over again: the lucky few go to the checkout while the rest have to wait until the button turns yellow again to try again until all stock is gone.

GameStop tends to announce that there will be new Xbox stock before it goes live on the site. In addition to standalone Xboxes, it also offers bundles that include a new Xbox Series X or S along with games, controllers, and so on.

Bundling is something of a double-edged sword. If you’re lucky enough to get a bunch of items you would have bought anyway, no problem. But when the only Xbox you can get is one that’s bundled with items you don’t want, that’s not so nice.

Walmart is actually the best of all retailers when it comes to announcing upcoming Xbox stocks before they go live. Sometimes the dealer will inform you a day or more in advance. They even say exactly when new goods can be expected to arrive, usually at either 11:30am PT or 12pm PT on the day it’s supposed to happen. Also unusual is that Walmart releases its inventory in batches. Each batch sells out within minutes, but a new batch is released 10 minutes later until all stock is gone.

On the plus side, this gives you a number of options to try and get an Xbox at Walmart. It also gives you the chance to get one even if you don’t visit the site directly the moment it first goes live. But on the downside, failing to snag one all afternoon can be a huge waste of time, and it can feel particularly demoralizing.
