“Valve testing indicates that Elden Ring has been verified on the Steam Deck,” the compatibility checker reads. This game is fully functional on the Steam Deck and works great with the built-in controls and screens. ”
What exactly does this mean? Well, games with “verified” status must meet four different criteria:
- Input: The game has full controller support, uses the appropriate controller input icons, and automatically displays the virtual keyboard when necessary.
- Screen: The game supports the default Steam Deck resolution (1280×800 or 1280×720), has good default settings, and the in-game text is easy to read.
- Seamless: The game doesn’t show any compatibility warnings and if it has a launcher, it can be navigated with a controller.
- System Support: If run through Proton (which allows Windows software to run on Linux systems), the game and its middleware will be supported. This includes anti-cheat support.
Essentially, this means that Elden Ring will be completely playable on the Steam Deck without any major system crashes (although The PC version in general is suffering from some performance complaintscan raise their heads).
