AmperSounds will be “a home for new and emerging talent [YMU’s] own list of management clients and beyond,” says YMU.

YMU has partnered with the Paris-based company Believe globally in A&R, marketing, digital and promotion, as well as managing and overseeing all aspects of its artist campaigns.

Alistair White, Head of Streaming and Audience for YMU since 2020will lead the AmperSounds team.

In this role, White will report directly to Chris Dempsey, Managing Director of YMU.

White joined YMU when the company acquired Machine management in 2018.

In recent years, the company says, White has worked on numerous releases, including multiple #1 single campaigns for Clean Bandit.

Alongside his unveiling, AmperSounds has named several new signings.

Irish singer-songwriter Lucy McWilliams will release her debut EP through AmperSounds later this year. McWilliams has over 200,000 listeners monthly Spotify and is one of YMU’s existing management customers.

Also signed to the label is Oli Fox, an Essex-based indie pop artist who has amassed over 10 million streams across all platforms. His new single The season will be released in February and is the first release on AmperSounds.

“It made perfect sense to launch my own label.”

Alistair White

Alistair White said: “We already have a wealth of amazing in-house talent at YMU who have a fantastic track record of overseeing all aspects of numerous successful campaigns. So it made perfect sense to start our own label that could serve as a launch pad for new and emerging talent that we already represent or other great artists that we discover.

“We already have several exciting new artists and a slew of releases planned for 2022, and our partnership with Believe gives us additional expertise and the reach to connect with new audiences worldwide.”

“AmperSounds gives us the opportunity to nurture artists in the early stages of their recording careers.”

Chris Dempsey, YMU

Chris Dempsey, Managing Director of YMU, said: “AmperSounds gives us the opportunity to nurture artists in the early stages of their recording career and offer them full 360 degree support while helping to grow their audience.

“With our first signings of Lucy McWilliams and Oli Fox, we are honored to work with such phenomenal talent.”

“YMU’s approach to artist development is fully aligned with Believe’s.”

Ben Rimmer, believe

Ben Rimmer, Believe’s Director of Label & Artist Solutions, added, “YMU’s approach to artist development is fully aligned with Believe’s.

“As one of the top 10 global management companies, the team at YMU is already in place to lead a modern record label, here led by Senior Label Manager Samantha Connaughton, in partnership with Believe’s passionate team of digital music professionals across 50 countries.

“YMU will leverage Believe’s fully independent global distribution network; editing, marketing and audience development; and leading technology platform.”music business worldwide
