For many of us women, our hair is one of the most precious features on our bodies.
We try different shampoos, styling methods and vitamins to ensure that our manes are in the best possible shape.
One hair expert, who follows @MoniqueMRapier on TikTok, says we may not realize how damaged our hair is.
In the clip, she begins: “Things you should NOT do with your hair that you may not know.”
The first common mistake is to put it in a tightly rolled bun. She said that this hairstyle is really bad for our locks.
Mistake #2: “Apply shampoo to the bottom half of your hair.”
She stresses that this tactic is especially bad for dry hair, as too much can change color and dehydrate hair.
She says the next habit could be the worst of them all. And coincidentally, that’s what most of us do instinctively: you shouldn’t use a towel to dry your hair.
The obvious dryness and rough texture in the towel can aggravate split ends and create tiny tears along the roots, weakening your overall mane.
Instead, choose a microfiber towel.
And her last tip concerns a mistake many of us make too: “Straighten or dry your flight lines to make them go down.”
Heat can further damage these fibers and inhibit their growth.
Although some viewers said they couldn’t avoid their first mistake – ballet dancers, military men – most were eager to incorporate these tips into their routine:
“You are a life saver!” a user commented.
Another added: “For long haul flights I use a little bit of Argan oil, which is a complete game changer.
