DEAR DEIDRE: THANKS, Deidre helped me believe that I could find love as a gay man.
When I write to you, I have just walked out, at the age of 55.

I have been unhappily married for 20 years, but have a beautiful daughter, now 27 years old.
For obvious reasons, the marriage did not take place.
After the divorce, I had a mental breakdown and confided the truth to my daughter.
She was supportive and I felt I could speak to everyone.
But I’m still not happy. I want to find love with someone special.
When I contact you, I feel very lonely. You have made me feel that I am worthy of love, and that I have so much to offer.
You provided me with your support package, Gay Resources and Gay Support, advised me to contact the LGBT+ call center (switchboard.lgbt, 0300 330 0630) and made me realize my approach to finding love is too narrow.
All issues receive a personal response, usually within 24 hours on weekdays.
Since writing, my attitude has become much more positive.
I got into sports, made new friends and was confident that a relationship was just around the corner.
DEIDRE SAYS: I’m glad I helped you believe in yourself and wish you the best of luck for the future.
