BRITS looking to book their next holiday abroad should take a closer look at Turkey if they want to make the most of their money.

A recent study found that Britons will receive hundreds of times more cash when traveling to the country due to the strong rise of the pound against Turkish Lira.

Travel money supplier FairFX have found that the pound is up 146% against the Turkish lira since January 2020, meaning you’ll make more money going there on holiday.

Not only that, the purchase of Turkish lira by Britons before their holiday has doubled between January and February, meaning there is high demand in Turkey for Britons going there. on this Easter.

Jack Mitchell, Head of Travel Money said: “Turkey is an incredible value-for-money destination for Britons, as the pound is up 146% against the Turkish lira since the start of 2020 , which adds up to a staggering £594 for every £1,000 in now compared to 2020.”

He advises any family planning an Easter trip to Turkey to buy cash when the pound is strongest so they can go further on holiday.

“Locking in rates is the best way to make more money for your vacation,” he says.

“And if your stay is postponed due to changing restrictions, illness, or worse still completely cancelled, there is a prepaid currency card which means you can keep your vacation money in one place until you travel again”.

Turkey has long been one of the most affordable vacation destinations for families, with the latest Post Office Holiday Money Index also ranking it as best value for money.

And last year’s study named Turkey best selling destination in 2022according to EasyJet Holidays.

Talking to TravelWeeklyBrad Bennetts, Distribution Manager at Easyjet Holidays says Turkey is the most booked destination in 2022, with the Antalya resort particularly popular.

He also reports that all-inclusive four-star hotels and family trips are some of the most booked trips.

Due to demand, Turkish Airlines even launched new direct flights from UK to popular tourist destinations this spring.

The airline has announced new flights from Manchester to Antalya and Dalaman.
