Young Galway woman, 20, dies after tragic accident in Camogie match

A woman in her early 20s died after a tragic accident during a Camogie match at a Co Galway club on Easter Monday.

The woman, who represented Galway Camogie at a minor level, was taken to Galway University Hospital from a GAA compound in the county but died on Tuesday morning.

Gardaí confirmed they were called “to an incident on Monday 18 April” at the seniors’ club site and that “a woman was later taken to Galway University Hospital”.

Independent.ie understands the woman died of her injuries this morning.

A person who knew the young woman said the place was “in shock” after the “tragic accident”.
