This is part of the latest update for your iPhone: iOS 15.

If rain, hail or snow is about to start where you are, it will warn you.

This gives you time to run for cover, turn around when walking, or open an umbrella.

It is related to the major overhaul of New iPhone Weather app launched with iOS 15 in September.

Apple’s Weather app isn’t always great – and was previously ridiculed.

But the new version is significantly better and can keep you from getting wet.

It only takes a few seconds to trigger these alerts.

How to enable weather alerts on your iPhone

First, make sure you’ve updated to iOS 15 – go to Settings > General > Software Update.

Then give the Weather app your location information, otherwise it won’t work.

Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Weather and select Always.

You’ll get even better warnings if you grant Precise Location access.

Next, make sure that the Weather app can send notifications.

Go to Settings > Notifications > Weather > Allow Notifications, then choose the type of alert you want.

Finally, you need to enable weather alerts.

Go to the Weather app and select the list icon in the bottom right.

At the top, you’ll see an option called Keep Dry.

If that doesn’t appear, tap the three dots in the top right, then go to Notifications.

Tap Enable Notifications, then activate the switch for My Location.

Then tap Done at the top right and it should work.

You will now receive an alert just before it’s about to rain where you are.
