You’re probably paying for a Netflix feature that you don’t even use

MILLIONS of Netflix users pay for an extra service they don’t even use.

What most subscribers don’t realize is that the streaming giant isn’t just about binge-worthy shows and movies anymore.

Since November last year, Netflix has also offered mobile games.

Some are linked to the company’s hit streak, like Stranger Things.

Multiple titles can be selected in the main Netflix app at no additional cost and are free of ads and in-app payments.

Others based on popular shows, including Queen’s Gambit and Shadow and Bone, are already in the works.

But experts claim that only a tiny percentage of subscribers actually play them.

Apptopia tells CNBC that games on the platform have been downloaded 23.3 million times.

So far, the average daily user count is around 1.7 million.

While that may sound like a lot, compared to Netflix’s whopping 221 million subscribers, it means only 1 percent actually play the games.

Netflix has been desperate for new ways to keep people on board in the face of stiff competition from companies like Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video.

In early 2022, the company announced that it had lost subscribers for the first time in ten years.

By the summer, nearly a million had quit the service — although that’s far fewer than bosses feared.

But the company doesn’t seem to be giving up on the games just yet.

The plan is to have 50 titles available to play by the end of the year.

And bosses have taken three indie game studios to achieve their goal.
