Turn on Automatic Updates

It’s important to keep your apps up to date.

It brings you new features and protects you from bugs.

You may be updating your apps manually — or not updating them at all — which is a bad idea.

So, consider turning on automatic updates for your App Store apps.

Go to Settings > App Store and then look for the Automatic Downloads section.

Then switch App updates to the green position ON.

You can also turn on automatic mobile downloads below if you have a lot of data to spare.

It’s even possible to set mobile download limits – you might be okay with small updates, but not huge ones.

If you do not allow any of these changes, you can disable them at any time.

Unload unused apps

Another clever App Store feature is Offload Unused Apps.

This does what it says on the tin: it removes apps from your iPhone that you don’t use regularly.

Importantly, you won’t lose any data as the personal content of these apps is backed up in the cloud.

But the physical apps disappear until you want to use them again, freeing up storage space.

Go to Settings > App Store, then scroll down to Offload unused apps.

“Reinstalling the app will restore your data if the app is still available in the App Store,” Apple explained.

If you are a die-hard iPhone user, you can free up tens of gigabytes of storage space.

Check your subscriptions

If you’ve had an iPhone for a few years, there’s a good chance you’ve subscribed to a service or two.

It’s so easy to do, you might not even remember doing it.

Subscriptions can add up quickly, and you might find yourself paying out significant sums each month.

Thankfully, you can quickly see what subscriptions you have on the App Store — and cancel them if you don’t want to keep paying.

Open the App Store, then tap your profile picture in the top right.

Now select Subscriptions and check your list under Active to see what you’re paying for, what’s your billing date, and if it’s worth canceling.
