A potentially important plot detail for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 has apparently been leaked by Daruk’s Italian voice actor, Pietro Ubaldi.
This article contains Breath of the Wild and possible Breath of the Wild 2 spoilers for the future.
As spotted by ResetEra user Alexander_Wand, the Zelda-focused YouTube channel Lega Hyrule shared an interview with Ubaldi, who said he not only voiced Daruk in the sequel, but also the Goron character’s ancestor.
Daruk himself transitions into the afterlife at the end of Breath of the Wild, which means his appearance is a bit odd in itself, but the apparent ancestor character is also a complete mystery.
Time is central to Breath of the Wild’s story – Link awakens 100 years after Ganondorf ruined everything during the Great Cataclysm – and multiple flashbacks occur throughout the game.
This ancestor could indicate that Link needs to delve into the past again, with some fans theorizing that they are from the “ancient time” mentioned in the game, which took place 10,000 years earlier. For example, Daruk’s ancestor could be an original Divine Beast pilot.
Even more interestingly, trailers for the (still officially untitled) Breath of the Wild sequel have featured a long-haired, seemingly injured version of Link. Some now believe this version of Link himself is from ancient times – which could also explain his toga-like attire.
