Zenith: The Last City Developer Ramen VR Raises New $35M Funding Round and Sees Big Growth

Zenith: The Last City Developer Ramen VR has secured a new $35 million Series B funding round following the game’s successful launch in January. The new funds will be used to expand, double (or triple) and build the studio zenith out in new directions. Or as Ramen CEO Andy Tsen says in a blog announcing the deal:

“TL;DR, we’re getting more $$$ to make Zenith gud faster.”

In a publication confirming the investment news, its launch on Steam as the #1 game resulted in hundreds of thousands of gamers with an average time spent on the currently available VR platforms in the world being around two hours per day . And the Discord is the largest company-run in the VR space with 125,000 users.

With this kind of start there is clearly room to continue growing and the team’s plans include transformation zenith”into a gaming super app that includes multiple worlds and gaming experiences for VR, desktop and mobile.” There was already some potential for expansion zenith beyond VR, so this new round helps make such a path possible.

“We have long said that this is the only game we will be working on and it remains the case. This funding will allow us to not only build out the core of Zenith, but also accelerate our efforts to bring bespoke and tailored mobile and desktop experiences to the game. As we expand our team, we remain focused on improving the overall experience zenith and adding tons of new leveling and endgame content. PS – We will never sacrifice VR immersion to be cross-platform. Prepare to see more worlds zenith soon.”

With the publication of a draft timetable for 2022, the zenith Team tries to keep updating the game and adding more content and features. But now that the launch is behind them, there’s more to come, not just content and enhanced features, but new accessibility options and more.
