Zenless Zone Zero is the incredibly stylish new game from the creators of Genshin Impact

The makers of Genshin Impact have revealed their latest game, Zenless Zone Zeroa ridiculously stylish roguelike with a modern setting.

On Friday (May 13) HoYover gave us a first look at the studio’s next game, Zenless Zone Zero, an urban fantasy ARPG. Right off the bat, the game looks like it’s going to have plenty of style, with flashy, over-the-top character designs and fast-paced action combat. The trailer very quickly differentiates itself from Genshin Impact, which obviously has a fantasy influence, while Zenless Zone Zero looks more like it jet set radio or The world ends with you.

According to a press release, the game will feature roguelike gameplay, with players taking on the role of a “surrogate” to explore Hollows. These mysterious hollows “apparently grow exponentially out of thin air, creating disordered dimensions in which mysterious monsters referred to as ‘ethereal’ roam”. It sounds like these hollows will feature a lot of procedural generation as part of the roguelike aspect. Aside from that, the gameplay looks similar to something like that bayonet.

Potential players can also sign up to participate in a beta test for Zenless Zone Zero. Interestingly, the survey players must reference games such Hades, dead cells, Devil May Cryand the Souls games, so it’s pretty clear what the developers are looking for for the game.

Currently, the game is set to be released on PC and iOS, although given the popularity of Genshin Impact across all its platforms, it wouldn’t be surprising if Zenless Zone Zero were later released on other platforms.

And given HoYoverse’s other games, it’ll likely be free and presumably have some sort of gacha element, although it’s up in the air at the moment whether it’ll emulate Genshin Impact with its monetization or do something else.
